In modern electronics manufacturing, it is crucial to control the actual ESD environment, as electrostatic discharges and electrical disturbances can cause failures, downtime and quality issues. EM Aware is an advanced monitoring system that provides real-time insight directly into ongoing processes, such as an SMT line. The system consists of two to six monitors with antennas positioned close to the relevant process or product. The monitors are connected via a data acquisition unit to a PC, where the software visualizes and records static fields and discharges. This enables users to identify problem areas, analyze measurement data and optimize processes. EM Aware allows real-time monitoring of static fields and discharges, verification of discharge times, and balance control of ionization equipment. By detecting deviations at an early stage, the system helps reduce the risk of production disruptions, scrap and claims, while creating a more stable and cost-efficient manufacturing process based on actual measurement data.
